British Gas is going ahead with plans to build a new multi million pound headquarters at an Oxford Business park where it will house 1000 staff in early 2013,
MD of British Gas Kanat Emiroglu,  said: “This building represents a major investment and demonstrates our commitment and confidence in Oxford as a key location for our business.

UK Spends £450m Every Year Repairing Boilers

Energy customers in Britain spend an incredible £447,000,000 every year repairing their boilers. The harsh winter has had a negative impact on boilers and over 5 million UK households have had some kind of boiler failure this year.
More than a third of these households had to pay out an average £256 in boiler repairs. However, more than a quarter managed to avoid paying any repair bills because they had boiler insurance.

Electricity And Gas Debt On The Rise

Ofgem, the energy regulator, has reported that the average electricity debt has increased by 4% from £279 in Q3 2009 to £291 in Q3 2010. In the same period, the average gas debt has gone up by 9% from £264 to £289 and that the number of gas customers with debts over £600 is 12% higher than in Q3 2009. This is bad news at a time when household budgets are being squeezed in every direction.
